9.  In case of a defective door, it is the option of AAW, Inc. to:

A.  Repair the door.   B.  Replace the door.  C.  Refund the wholesale cost of the door.

  • EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN, AAW, INC. SHALL NOT PAY FOR THE COST OF SHIPPING, LABOR, INSTALLATION OR FINISHING OF THE REPLACEMENT OR ORIGINAL DOOR OR FOR ANY OTHER COST RELATING TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DOOR, ALL OF WHICH SHALL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON MAKING THE WARRANTY CLAIM.

THE FOLLOWING SHALL NOT BE CONSIDERED DEFECTS IN MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP AND ARE NOT COVERED BY THIS LIMITED WARRANTY:

  • 1.   Warp for any door wider than 42" or taller than 96";
  • 2.  *Warp for any nominal 1 3/4" thick by 36" wide by 6-8" high, not exceeding 1/4" in the plane of the door itself; 5/16" on doors up to 8-0" high.
  • 3.   Bow or nonalignment in the frame or jamb in which the door is hung.
  • 4.   Variations or unsatisfactory results in gloss level, texture or appearance resulting from the field application of paint or any other finishing material;
  • 5.   Natural variations in the color or texture of the wood;
  • 6.   Damage caused by others or by any cause beyond the control of AAW Inc., including but not limited to damage caused by misuse, abuse, accident, mishandling or by fire, flood, earthquake, storm, tornado or other acts of nature.
    "Misuse" of a door includes, but is not limited to, using a door on part of a building without providing adequate overhang or an appropriate finish color.
  • **Adequate overhang protection from weather is determined by the following:  Measure from bottom of door to where overhang joins wall.  This measurement is divided by 2 then extended out from the door.  Example-  Bottom to top measures 6'-11", then 3'-5 1/2" overhang is the minimum requirement.
  • 7.  Damage caused by failure to comply with the Care, Handling or Finishing Instructions.
  • 8.  Failure to perform normal homeowner's maintenance.
  • 9. Attempts to repair or change the design of the wood or glass of AAW Inc. products.
  • 10. Surface checks that are less than 1/32" in width and/or 2" in length;
  • 11. Panel movement (shrinkage) of 1/8" or less. Temperature and humidity may cause the wood panels in your door to shrink, leaving an unstained line along the panel edge. The panels in your door have been designed to "float."
  • 12. Damage caused by extreme temperature buildup where a storm door is utilized. Storm doors must be vented to eliminate this temperature buildup;
  • 13. Doors shipped out of the continental United States, Hawaii or Canada are not warranted.

If the claimed non conformity is warp, AAW Inc. may defer repairing or replacing the product for a period of up to twelve (12) months from the date of claim or the date when the product was installed, as it is not uncommon for a temporary warp condition to occur as the door adjust to local humidity and temperature conditions. This deferral will not be counted against the warranty period.

Please note: Replacement product will not be shipped until the defective product is picked up for credit.  Exceptions to this would mean the customer would pay for the new door in adevance;  when the defective door is received back they are credited the amount of the defective door.

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY EXTENDS ONLY TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF PRODUCTS OR TO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF THE STRUCTURE INTO WHICH SUCH PRODUCTS ARE INSTALLED.
